How Does a Moving Company Carry Sofas Up Stairs that Lead to Apartments Without Elevators?

So yeah, you wouldn’t think a moving company would have that hard of a time getting a sofa up some stairs…but you’d be wrong.

This is a story about how we moved a couch up the stairs. I know, it sounds ridiculous but stick with me.

What was supposed to be a simple move turned out to be one of the most challenging tasks we have had to take on in recent years. The move was booked by a woman who had just finished her degree and was moving into her first real home (in fact, her first ever home). She had decided to move into an apartment that had no elevator, which meant she would have to carry everything up the stairs herself. The only problem was that she couldn’t even get her large sofa up the stairs in the first place. Enter us

We took it apart and rebuilt it once we were outside the apartment. It wasn’t easy, but we managed to do it and save the customer a whole lot of time, money, and heartache in the process.

Sometimes things come up during a move that require a little creativity and this definitely qualified; sliding the entire thing down the hallway was clearly not an option!

The next time you’re struggling to get a couch up the stairs, think about how we moved this one! I still can’t believe this actually worked. And hopefully it will help you when your moving day comes.
